I have been asked for permission to reprint a few paragraphs excerpted from Adventures in India. I have also been asked for an interview by the local state radio – they are doing a show on weblogs.
PS: just got home from a few days in England. Keeping my offline life busy. Not much to blog about – and as I always say, “better not to blog than to blog just to blog.”

Vous n’êtes sans doute pas sans savoir que notre chère amie Script est québécoise. Vous verrez que dans la bare de liens, j’ai changé le drapeau à côté de son nom.
Ben oui, je comprends tout à fait. Le drapeau français pour signaler la langue française, c’est bien joli – mais que fait-on des francophones non français? Vous savez, ça fait un moment qu’ils me gênent, ces drapeaux. Je ne suis pas française non plus, et plutôt fière de ma particularité helvète.

En attendant, essayez la chose suivante: à la place de https://climbtothestars.org/writing/fantome/ qui donne une erreur (par exemple), écrivez https://climbtothestars.org/writing/fantome.php. Faites les autres sur le même modèle. Désolée pour l’inconvénient, et ne désespérez pas!

If you’re still wondering why you should use CSS instead of tables for layout out your pages, you need to read Eric Costello’s excellent Introduction to CSS Layout.
For more information on how to do it (once you’re convinced), you can always check out my stuff – at the risk of repeating myself. Of course, Eric’s article does a pretty good job of explaining that part too, complete with practical examples.

If you find the prospect of wading through the w3c specs daunting, and you are a lucky user of Mozilla or Opera, you’ll find these sidebar tabs invaluable. Yes, follow that link even if you don’t know what a sidebar tab is. I didn’t either before I went there.
These tabs conveniently list all the HTML and CSS elements in your sidebar. Click on the tag, attribute or element you need information on, and you’ll be transported to the relevant place in the w3c specifications. Without the trouble of finding the right spec, and then the right place in the spec. Still there?
I can’t imagine I discovered about them only now.
Yes, Shirley tells us they work in Opera, don’t worry.
