About the website you’re reading.

J’attends vos suggestions brillantes!

Reviews [en]

I’ve finally put my AstoundingWeb/Fathom5 reviews online. Enjoy!

  • Psychology of Cyberspace: an online book on the psychological dimensions created by computers and networks.
  • Operation Clambake: a very well-documented resource devoted to fighting the Church of Scientology (CoS).
  • House of Style: one of the best CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) resources I have found online.
  • BonniNet: BonniNet: site(s) of Bonni Elizabeth Hall. Beautiful, interesting, readable. A great place to spend some time.

Expect silence during these next days (weeks?). I’m offline to prepare my exams, which will happen on Tuesday
and Thursday next week. Wish me luck!

As soon as those are done with, I’m off to Birmingham — to see this little one, amongst other
lovely people. I’ll hop down to London with Danielle to see Private Lives (btw, if you’re a nice
person in London and you can accomodate the two of us for one night, drop
me an e-mail!)

Those of you who know my mobile number can use that to reach me while
I’m in Switzerland (I love sms!) — once I’m in England, email rules.
But most of all, have a nice time while I’m gone!

Bookmarks [en]

When I first thought about setting up a wiki on this site, I was thinking of the personal use I could make of it. A giant scrapbook, a place to brainstorm, to think about my dissertation topic, or post quick links.

Even before I had got the script running, though, another project had loomed up: make it a place where people visiting this site regularly can interact. Make it a place where we can have interesting discussions, and get a little community-feel.

But I didn’t forget my initial idea, which I found was fully developped in WikiAsPim.

I’ve been wanting to make my bookmarks available publicly for some time now. First of all for myself, so that I can have them handy whether I’m at work (Internet Explorer) or at home (Mozilla) or even at university (Mac and old Netscrape).

But also because every now and again, I spend a few hours doing what I call “web research”, and I often come up with collections of links on a given topic which I think a pity to just leave lying on my computer, once I’ve done with them. I don’t want to go through the trouble of putting them on a full-blown site page either, because they are often not topics I’m ferociously interested in.

So a wiki would be a great place to dump my bookmarks.

Start digging!

Il me manque.

In the days of early grief, the pull towards the being you lost is still there. It pulls at your heart but has nowhere to go. It is a ghost. A ghost of habits and rituals, a ghost of familiarity, who feeds on unmoored love – another name for grief.  Like a phantom limb in … Continue reading "Ghosts in the Heart"
