Worm-virus: Sircam [en]

Sircam is rated high-risk right now. It will spread by email using addresses from Windows’ address books, attaching a random file from the “My Documents” folder. Yes, I’m sure you all want your private files circulating around the Internet! It also does more nasty stuff, and I adamantly suggest that you read some first-hand information to protect yourself (and your friends).

In Switzerland, I would go simply everywhere with Cali. In rare cases, she would wait for me in the car, or tied up in front of the library. I took her in restaurants, went shopping for clothes with her, and she was even accepted in two of my university classes.

In England, you aren’t expected to go into town with your dog. The only ones around are those which inevitably accompany marginal people. I understood this yesterday when we went out for a walk/shop/coffee in Birmingham New Street.

We were asked to take her out of the coffee shop we had sat in, after our drinks had arrived. We were asked to take her out of the shopping mall, after we had been in there for an hour. No where did I see a sign forbidding dogs – I really had to look for it. Dogs aren’t allowed loose in the park. They aren’t really supposed to be on the university grounds, either.

Switzerland must be dog-owner’s paradise.

I spent an hour or so chatting with the very nice couple who live just upstairs of me. They are going to “adopt” Bagha during my various trips this summer – which will not be a really big deal for him, as he already tends to “invade” their flat quite a lot.

Cali is getting ready for the big ride to the UK – she’s going back to live with Aleika, after having spent her quarantine time with me in Switzerland. I’ll miss her, but I’m also happy that she’ll be with Aleika again.

We’ll be driving there on Thursday, as the plane for Cali turned out to be prohibitely expensive (she has to travel as manifest freight to enter the UK).

I’ll be coming back to Switzerland around August 1, and leaving again – for India this time! – on the 13th (for six weeks). I’m starting to be excited about all this. After having Somak and Aleika on the phone last night, I realized how much I miss not having them around. I’m really looking forward to seeing them!

I’d forgotten how good creepsville is. The stories are very well-written, and just keep me reading on and on.

I really had forgotten how much I liked this site. The reason I found my way back to it is that when I found it, I subscribed to Josh’s notify list. I’ve been gettin his newsletter messages for ages, and for some strange reason I never went to check the site. But today I did.

And it makes me really glad I did join his notify list, a long, long time ago.

Les photos n’ont pas de langue, même si les commentaires sont en anglais! J’ai bien bossé ces derniers jours, et j’ai le plaisir de vous présenter les nouvelles galeries suivantes:

  • Markal: un village indien dans lequel j’ai assisté à  une journée de rassemblement religieux auquel participait mon ami Shinde.
  • Akirno: une mignonne petite frimousse pleine de vie, qui a contribué à  égayer mon séjour en inde.
  • Fleurs: au gré des promenades, quelques fleurs rencontrées.

Principe RDA: Répété, Déformé, [en]

C’est ainsi que nous parviennent la plupart des informations, que ce soit de bouche à  oreille, ou bien via les médias. Réfléchissez-y une secode: qu’est-ce qu’on répète? Ce qui nous marque d’une façon ou une autre. C’est un fait accepté que l’on se donne la licence (pas toujours poétique!) d’exaggérer un tantinet les paroles que l’on rapporte, afin de garantir que notre interlocuteur les trouvera également marquantes, et verra l’intérêt que nous leur avions trouvées.

Il n’y a rien de mal à  ce comportement innocent – mais il fait parfois bon de rappeler son existance.
