Talking of my TV viewings in India (on the newly created DALnet channel #waferbaby), I remembered a few dreadful typos we came upon in the Asian Age TV program (the newspaper Somak said was so dreadful that one day he would see on the front cover “Gandhi shot dead!”).
Do you have any fun typos for us?

First day of work was really great.
For a start, the security guard wasn’t warned that I was signing in today – so I got a visitor’s badge.
Second, I had to wait one hour for my log-in (username and password), only to discover that I wasn’t granted access to the files I was supposed to work on.
Third and last, Powerpoint has such crappy export features that I think I’m going to have to do all the conversion with copy-paste. I hate textboxes and graphics.
Please don’t ask me if I have tried opening the files with dreamweaver – I’m still waiting for the IT security clearance to install it.

Comme toute BD, electric sheep contient du texte, et il est en anglais. Mais ce site vaut le détour rien que pour les images…

J’ai exprimé il y a déjà un moment mon désir d’avoir un site bilingue. Par bilingue, je n’entends pas le fait d’avoir une version du site en anglais, et une autre en français.
Pour une personne bilingue, et même probablement pour quelqu’un qui a appris un tant soit peu sérieusement une langue étrangère, il est tout à fait évident que deux langues ne se “recouvrent” pas. Il n’y a pas de traduction pure. Et c’est aussi cela que je veux rendre ici.
Certes, c’est embêtant. Les seules personnes qui profiteront pleinement de mon site sont celles qui maîtrisent suffisemment les deux langues.
Mais c’est la seule solution que je vois pour le moment – et c’est celle qui correspond le mieux à ma façon de vivre le bilinguisme.
J’accueille très volontiers vos commentaires à ce sujet – spécialement en français!
Quite some time ago, I said I wanted this site to be bilingual.
It is now clear that there is one way it will not be done: I will not translate each page to give a “French” and an “English” version of the site – nor will I translate word for word everything that I write. I just can’t.
So you will find stuff in English, some in French, and some in both. If you don’t know both languages, you might miss things – that’s how it is in the real world, isn’t it?
Goldbach’s Conjecture says that each even number is the sum of two primes.
For example, 6=1+5, 8=3+5, 18=11+7, etc.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
The only problem is that up till now, nobody has managed to prove or disprove it. We do not know for sure that it is correct or false – though we do have good reasons to think it is true.
