About the website you’re reading.

Hosting [en]

I’ve been very happy with my host up till now (a nice friend who is not making me pay a cent for his services). Unfortunately, the traffic this site is generating (300Mb a month and climbing) is starting to be too much for his server. Does anybody know of good hosting solutions (reliable but adapted to a student’s budget) I could switch to?

Feedback Bug [en]

Don’t worry if you tried using the feedback form and got an error message. The form works fine – the error message is generated because there is a little problem with the page confirming that your message has reached me. I’ll fix it once I’m back home…

Photos [en]

If you try to look at my photos, you must be getting a whole bunch of nasty php error messages. All my apologies – it probably has something to do with the server shift, and I’ll try to get it fixed as fast as possible.

Site [en]

After quite a lot of waiting and fingernail gnawing, the site is back up. All my apologies for those of you who were faced with a “server not found” error message. I hope you’ll enjoy the reading I kept in store for you.

Downtime [en]

If you are reading this, it means that the dns for my site has propagated down to you. The server which hosts my site was moved from Lausanne to Geneva, and unfortunately I didn’t keep myself informed at my host’s site – hence the nasty surprise I had when I tried to check my mail after my arrival in India.

Sorry to everybody who had to cope with bounced emails and frustrating attempts to connect to my site.

Deal [en]

I bought a new computer. A very good deal. For 620.- Frs., I get a PIII 450MHz, 256Mb RAM, a 32Mb Asus graphics card, two CD burners, an internal Zip drive, and a pretty neat 17″ monitor.

The only problem is that I now realize I’m going to have to redo all my scans: my crappy old monitor made me lighten them a shade too much. That’s what you get for working with bad tools!

But that’ll be for when I come back from India, folks. I’m off in three days!

Most of the pages of the coding section now allow comments. So do all of the pages in the writing section. Looking forward to hearing from you!

You haven’t noticed, but all my archives are now table-less and valid XHTML1.0. A good part of the writing has suffered the same fate. You’ll notice a few minor layout changes and enhanced navigational features (now, doesn’t that sound great?)

More interesting to you will be the two little icons that you can find at the top of each page. They are direct links to the French and English translations (or re-translations) of the current page. Do abuse them, but remember that I am not responsable for the style of the translating software…

Somebody told me you were waiting for photographs of India. Well, I’ve heard you. The first batch is up, with a new layout too: welcome to Markal.

I’ve implemented the new layout for Lausanne too. The gallery index is not complete though, and might land in empty directories (depending on where you try to go!).
