Dans l'angle mort – la secretaire d'Hitler [en]

Un documentaire qui ne se promène malheureusement déjà  plus sur les écrans mais qu’il faudrait voir absolument : Dans l’angle mort. Un témoignage, celui de la femme qui fut durant la guerre la secrétaire personnelle d’Hitler.

Véritablement « dans l’angle mort », trop proche du coeur de cette terre pour en mesurer l’enfer, elle passa sa vie à  ne pouvoir se pardonner de n’avoir rien vu, alors qu’elle était là .

Une leçon d’histoire (les derniers jours dans le bunker avant le suicide d’Hitler) et une leçon de vie également, parcours de cette femme qui avait toujours refusé jusqu’ici de raconter son histoire.

56 ans après la fin de la guerre, un témoin oculaire et auditif prend la parole. La propre expérience de Traudl Junge la détermina à  devenir une farouche adversaire du national-socialisme, qui semble en même temps souffrir au plus haut point de son incapacité à  jamais pardonner à  la jeune fille qu’elle était, sa naïveté et son ignorance d’alors.

This is one of the things which make the web worth while for me: in addition to the local news, I can read about what it is like to live in Hong Kong during the SARS outbreak.

Instead of watching CNN, I get a chance to see what an independent journalist who made it back to Iraq has to say, and even have a peek of what it is like to live in Bagdhad or set a foot on a landmine.

Oh yes, we don’t know how reliable these sources are. But we know how (un)reliable the newspapers and the TV are, don’t we?

PN: But I thought many of our allies, including Israel, were in violation of more security council resolutions than Iraq.

War [en]

I won’t talk about the war. You know I have trouble keeping up with politics even in normal times. So I won’t say anything about the war, particularly as the mere thought of it makes me feel positively sick. I’ll just send you off to read things that other people have written. Not necessarily the best, just those that I have picked up during the last half hour or so. Don’t forget to explore the rest of the sites if I just pointed you to an individual post.

No warblogs. I’m sick enough without reading what the likes of Charles Johnson and especially their commentors have to say (ok, I’ll admit there are more “readable” warblogs than his). Read Let Slip the Blogs of War instead. If you read French, read Michel Dumais: Le déclin des blogues américains.
