Now that I’ve finally got my CD player up and running at home (it took me over six months!), the “radio song” list has been replaced by a list of CDs. If you hover your mouse over the entries, you’ll get a little information on each one.

XHTML [en]

Should XHTML 1 should have been called HTML 5?

As I’m preparing for ripping out my layout tables and using nice CSS columns, I’m also pausing before the door of XHTML. Should I open it or not?

Disturbing Search Requests [en]

A slightly lighter note *wink*

I knew that “wet sari sex” was one of the most popular search referrals I got. Or any combination thereof. A week or so back, I got “hairy males naked” – and today, I’m entering the French porn scene: “sex vieilles dames”.

Sometimes I really wonder how my rambling can keep them coming over for that kind of stuff.

What's Cooking? [en]

I know I keep rambling about what I’m going to do – and I’m much slower at actually doing stuff. But on the whole, I think I’m not doing too bad (knowing me).

I’ve been working on the HTML Express tutorial. It will be up some day. I’ve started working on the culture shock notes. I’ve a few more deep thoughts (God bless those boring philosophy classes) waiting to be typed up.

I’m starting to seriously consider building an all-french web designing resource – from what I’ve seen, the french web is a little “behind” as far as designing issues are concerned. Blame the language barrier – they can’t read A List Apart if their English is only so good…

Finally, I might be giving a class on Internet Culture here in Lausanne. The aim of it being to introduce parents of school children to the world of the web, so that they have the means to follow their child’s work – and also be aware of the security and monitoring issues involving the web.

And if I do that, of course, a new set of documents will definately see the light of the day…

Oh yes! I almost forgot! Of course, I still have the project of feeding my blog entries into a database one day, so that I can serve them on “thematic” pages for you. That would be quite a lot of work though, and I am definately not going to take the time to learn MySQL just now.
I’m also seriously thinking of chopping up my long logbook pages into smaller units – a screen or two long. What do all you travel-library readers think about this?

In Near Future [en]

Just so you know what’s coming up, I’m working hard on a coding section (HTML, CSS, PHP) as well as on my “culture shock” notes from India.
I also have in mind to make available some music (English, French, Hindi). Oh, and scan those pictures for you.
And maybe I could start compiling my blog entries by “subject” – you could have all my little “web-research” posts available together, or the thoughts…

What do you think?

New Server [en]

As you probably have noticed, I’m having some trouble in getting the domain name servers to work properly.
If you don’t know what a “dns” is, don’t worry. It just means that instead of bringing up this site, my url sends poor visitors to a gandi error message.

It will be fixed soon *fingers crossed*. Thank you Angel.

If you are one of the lucky people able to access this site, you will see that apart from the design, little has changed from the old site. I’ve done away with some old stuff and I’m adding some new things (patience!), but mainly, it’s the same content in a new skin.

All the scripts are supposed to be working by now. Let me know if they bug you.

Surprise! [en]

At last, I have redesigned.

As with any server, domain name, and design change, you can expect a little bit of tweaking in the days to come. Please let me know if you notice anything unusual.

Thanks to everbody who gave me a hand, be it by sending me screenshots, giving me advice on the layout, or helping me out with technical issues.

But most of all thanks to daniel, who encouraged me to redesign now, and who’s counselling and good advice prevented me from messing it all up again. He also did the little graphics you can see at the top of each page, as well as the redirect script which will catch any visitors to my old address and bring them safely here.

I wish you a pleasant journey through my pages, and hope that the new design will bring more pleasure to your reading.

Continue reading "Comment on foire? (ou: comment souper tard mène à la cuisine déprimante)"
  • Et alors, aujourd’hui?11.12.2025
C’est 21h11, il me reste un poil de temps, même si je suis trop raide. Mais tant pis. Ecrire c’est important, et si j’attends toujours que les conditions soient bonnes, eh bien j’attends. Heavens, what happened to blogging after 8pm? There was a week there where I seemed on a roll. I was also managing the rest of my life. And the small slice of work. • Can I Write a Quick Blog Post?16.11.2025
This is often the question. In typical ADHD style, my difficulty getting started on something is only surpassed by my difficulty stopping something once it’s started. So, 9pm on Sunday night, tired tired tired, can I grab my keyboard and give you some news without still being up at midnight? I challenge myself. Mid-October, I … Continue reading "Can I Write a Quick Blog Post?"

Après l’introduction d’hier (enfin à l’heure de publication, c’est avant-hier), venons-en au menu principal: une collection de podcasts en série limitée, type documentaire en x épisodes, surtout en anglais (parce qu’il y en a moins en français, tout simplement). A écouter, bien sûr. Je ne les ai pas mis dans un ordre particulier, juste comme … Continue reading "Des “mini-podcasts” à écouter"
