I now use xml to store my weblog posts. If you’re a geek, have a look at the source. If you aren’t a geek, the main improvement for you is under the search box: you can now choose to hide French or English posts in the weblog too (hiding the English ones comes in handy for automatic translation, as I may already have mentioned).
Category: Social Media and the Web
Social media, blogging, tweeting, facebooking, web design, and all the stuff that isn’t here yet. Subcategories highlight some areas of particular expertise.
In addition to the page of thoughts I put together a few days ago, here is another one, collecting entries of longer thinking posts together. These two pages are not complete yet, as I still have to make my way through a few months of archives. Keep checking them during the next days.
The India index page has been updated, and all the posts pertaining to my recent six-week holiday there can be found on one page. I’ve also started sorting out book posts.
Thoughts [en]
Compiled for you, the thoughts presented in this weblog. Enjoy in bilingual, English or French versions of the page. Admire the source code if you feel so inclined.
More to come.
Mail [en]
Even if net presence in India is booming (well, actually, it has-boomed), connections aren’t as reliable as they are back home. I regularly have problems accessing my site and my email.
As always, it seems that my most reliable address is my university one. If you want to make sure I read you, best is to cc your message to my university address too. As for those of you who aren’t interested in reaching me by email, sorry for boring you with all the gory details!
Hosting [en]
I’ve been very happy with my host up till now (a nice friend who is not making me pay a cent for his services). Unfortunately, the traffic this site is generating (300Mb a month and climbing) is starting to be too much for his server. Does anybody know of good hosting solutions (reliable but adapted to a student’s budget) I could switch to?
Feedback Bug [en]
Don’t worry if you tried using the feedback form and got an error message. The form works fine – the error message is generated because there is a little problem with the page confirming that your message has reached me. I’ll fix it once I’m back home…
Photos [en]
If you try to look at my photos, you must be getting a whole bunch of nasty php error messages. All my apologies – it probably has something to do with the server shift, and I’ll try to get it fixed as fast as possible.
Site [en]
After quite a lot of waiting and fingernail gnawing, the site is back up. All my apologies for those of you who were faced with a “server not found” error message. I hope you’ll enjoy the reading I kept in store for you.
Downtime [en]
If you are reading this, it means that the dns for my site has propagated down to you. The server which hosts my site was moved from Lausanne to Geneva, and unfortunately I didn’t keep myself informed at my host’s site – hence the nasty surprise I had when I tried to check my mail after my arrival in India.
Sorry to everybody who had to cope with bounced emails and frustrating attempts to connect to my site.
