A Short Note and Update

Comme vous avez pu vous en rendre compte, passablement occupée ces temps-ci. C'est l'occasion de peaufiner mes armes de gestion du temps!

As you can see, the few days I spent recuperating up in the mountains resulted in quite a lot of 50-word stories. I’m a bit horribly busy these days (working on keeping my time management under control) — thankfully because I have quite a bit of work lined up.

Expect a steady drivel of more business-related postings around here in a few weeks!

PS: yes, there are still about 4 months worth of posts missing from Climb to the Stars. Coming soon too!

Bienvenue aux lecteurs de l’Hebdo

A month without blogging! An article on blogging in this area was published yesterday by l'Hebdo. An excuse to give you a little news.

Je romps le silence radio (un mois sans rien publier, que diable!) à l’occasion de la parution de l’article “Blogueurs romands: L’esprit de famille” dans l’Hebdo d’hier (le voici tout joli en PDF avec photos).

Un mois! A quoi me suis-je donc occupée? Qu’y a-t-il de nouveau? Je pourrais faire trois piles d’articles, mais à la place, je vous donne une liste en vrac:

3 semaines malade au fond du canapé sous le duvet avec beaucoup de DVDs
5 saisons de X-files (cf. ci-dessus)
heureuse propriétaire d’un iPhone et d’un netbook
un sympathique mandat en cours pour la boulangerie Fleur de Pains (3 articles publiés à ce jour)
un espace coworking (l’eclau) qui roule
co-conspiratrice de Ada Lovelace Day, 1000 participants inscrits en moins d’une semaine
rédactrice en chef du blog de voyage ebookers.ch en français (pas encore lancé, on trime dur, juste là)
la poignée habituelle de cours de blog, demandes d’interview, projets autour de conférences
du retard dans les mises à jour WordPress, l’envoi de ma newsletter, le rangement de mon appartement, la rédaction de divers ebooks et histoires de 50 mots
un mandat intéressant repoussé ad aeternam pour cause de crise budgétaire
un projet de traduction d’ebook en cours
beaucoup de tweets
toute une période de “rien envie d’écrire” — c’est rare
déclaration d’impôts 2007 envoyée, enfin!
et hop, la sortie du fameux livre sur WordPress, co-écrit par Xavier Borderie, Amaury Balmer, et Francis Chouquet (relu par bibi!)
relooking du site de Café-Café (encore quelques détails à régler)

Bon, allez, j’arrête là. L’envie d’écrire me reprend, je dégèle le blog, je reprends le rythme. A tout bientôt!

In Lisbon, at SHiFT’08

Je suis à Lisbonne pour la conférence SHiFT. J'y présente demain. Mon serveur a eu quelques hoquets (sites non accessibles ce dernier jour) mais tout devrait être rentré dans l'ordre.

I arrived in Lisbon on Monday. I’m now attending the SHiFT conference, and very happy to be here (my talk is this afternoon, closing session).

My server was down for about 24 hours or so (if you tried to reach this site, or another site of mine, and couldn’t, that’s the explanation). It’s back up now and things look like they’re going to be OK.

Unfortunately that means that on top of dealing with business as usual, I’ve been scrambling to set up a temporary server (thankfully a useless effort) instead of writing the 2-3 blog posts I wanted to publish: one on the Somesso conference, 31st October in Zurich (I’ll be there), and another one on LeWeb’08 Paris (I’ll also be there).

Some quick news — for you, but also to get it out of my head:

Things are looking good for the Lausanne coworking space (lease signed, deposit money found, coworkers found and people still calling up to check the place out) — we’re opening 1st of November (the party will be later) so that means I’ll be very busy setting things up as soon as I get back home from this trip.
This week, I’m going to review requests for LeWeb blogger accreditations. There are roughly 4 requests for every pass I have, so I’m afraid many people will not be accredited. Accreditations will take into account blogging language, geographical location, and overall blogger “profile”. We’re really happy so many people want to be part of this, and I apologize in advance that we will not be able to accommodate everyone.
I owe a newsletter to my subscribers. It will come. It is not forgotten.
I’m taking photos and will post them.
My talk here will be filmed. Yay!
It feels like summer here in Lisbon.
I’m looking forward to meeting bloggers from the Blogging Web 2.0 Expo Programme next week!

Lots of Going Solo News

Des nouvelles de Going Solo. Plein de nouveau! Mais pas le courage d'écrire en français. Au pire, filez sur la page presse où vous trouverez de la documentation en français au sujet de la conférence.

Gosh, I can’t remember when I posted the last Going Solo update on this blog. The conference is in less than a week! I can’t believe it.

You should really, really, really subscribe to the Going Solo blog to keep up with what’s going on on that front, or sign up for the newsletter if you’d rather get an e-mail every now and again.

Yes, Going Solo finally has a newsletter! And posters! And an agenda, speaker interviews, a bunch of great sponsors and partners (attendees will have a chance to win a FreshBooks Shuttle Bus package, get MOO goodies, and even see men in white. If you’re having trouble keeping track of where to find Going Solo online, this round-up post should help you.

Oh, and we have pre-conference and post-conference events organized, quite a bit of bandwidth at the venue (wifi of course), and we’re all set to film the sessions on the big day.

Phew. What am I missing? Oh yes, we’re going to be able to keep registration open this week (the kind people at the Albatros-Navigation are flexible enough to allow us to do that). I need to write a note about that on the Going Solo blog. And we have a press page where you can download shiny PDFs both in French and English.

Funnily, my stress levels are going down these days. I mean, we’re almost all set, aren’t we? I might bite my tongue for saying that these next days, though…

Busy!

Je cours, je cours! Pas mal de nouveau sur le site de Going Solo. J'espère mettre les billets en vente dès mercredi!

Gosh, have I been busy these last weeks. My “one post a day minimum” resolution kind of evaporated when I started running all around town looking at venues for Going Solo.

Well, we have a venue now, and today I spent a fair amount of time playing with Expectnation to try and get it ready to open registration less than two days from now (fingers crossed).

We also have ~~badges to display in your sidebar (thanks, Carlos!) and~~ more content on the Going Solo site. [Pulled the badges after some feedback. New ones soon!]

I also seem to have found our fourth speaker, which I’m quite excited about (no, not telling — both parties are going to chew on it a little before we make it offical).

Now, I just need to sleep, prepare my workshop, rehearse my Open Stage speech, announce the Lausanne blogging seminar for 26th February and figure out how to market it.

Uh-oh! Night night everybody.

Gardez un oeil sur la page wikinews consacrée aux attentats déjoués pour avoir des nouvelles fraîches. La version française est nettement moins complète.

Quant au blogueur Doc Searls, il a été pris dedans.

Peu de connection internet ces prochains jours

My motherboard probably died, so I'll be ibook-less for one or two weeks, which means I'll have limited internet connection. Best way to reach me is by gmail or phone. If we have a meeting set up these next two weeks, please get in touch to confirm -- my calendar is on the sick computer.

Mon ordinateur portable adoré est en réparation (carte mère grillée, probablement) et j’aurai donc peu d’accès à internet durant une semaine ou deux. Pour me joindre, utilisez mon adresse gmail (c’est celle que je vérifierai le plus souvent) ou bien des moyens archaïques comme le téléphone (mobile ou non).

De plus, si l’on est censés se voir prochainement, il est peut-être une bonne idée de me contacter pour confirmer, vu que mon agenda est sur l’ordinateur malade…

Toutes mes excuses pour le dérangement!
