Me suis fait podcaster! [fr]

[en] I was videocasted last week. The interview (in French of course) is online now.

[C’est sur Culture Pod, la podcasting attitude](http://www.culturepod.ch/fr/2006/04/27/stephanie-booth-madame-blog-suisse-romande/) et j’ai passé sur le grill vendredi dernier, si ma mémoire est bonne.

Je viens de regarder la vidéo, et c’est assez sympa! J’approuve tout à fait des choix de montage. Quelques prises de conscience un peu horrifiées après visionnement, tout de même:

– j’ai failli à la règle numéro un lorsqu’on est filmé: porter des lunettes anti-reflet, ou ne pas porter de lunettes
– qu’est-ce que j’ai l’air sérieuse, bon Dieu!
– je réfléchis avant de parler…
– j’ai l’air un peu plouc par moments, quand même.

– ma “célébrité médiatique”, création de [SwissBlogs](http://swissblogs.com/)

(Oui, je sais, ce blog est un peu ego-ego ces temps. Avec un peu de chance ça va pas durer.)

Get Listed in Technorati Blog Search [en]

[fr] Technorati est le meilleur moteur de recherche spécialisé dans les blogs. Pour être listé dedans, il est important que votre outil de weblog envoie un ping à  Technorati chaque fois que vous publiez un billet. Ainsi, vos tags seront pris en compte.

Technorati comporte également un répertoire de blogs sur lequel je compte m'appuyer pour la nouvelle version de SwissBlogs. Pour y être listé, il suffit de créer un compte chez Technorati et de déclarer votre blog. N'oubliez pas de lui ajouter des tags! Helvetia, en particulier, si c'est un blog suisse.

Il est aussi facile de faire ajouter son blog dans le répertoire sans faire de compte chez Technorati. Il suffit d'ajouter le code suivant (à  adapter selon vos besoins) pour chaque tag que vous désirez attribuer à  votre blog, dans un billet ou quelque part sur la page principale de votre blog: <a href="http://technorati.com/blogs/helvetia" rel="tag directory">Je suis un blog suisse!</a>

You know [Technorati](http://technorati.com) is just about the best blog search engine out there. If you want the right people to be able to find you, you should be in Technorati.

First, you want to ping Technorati. Normally, your blogging software does this for you. If it doesn’t, you need to (a) bug your blogging software provider to [implement pinging Technorati](http://technorati.com/developers/ping/ “Developer information.”) and (b) in the meantime, [ping manually each time you post](http://technorati.com/ping “Ping form.”). Not sure if you’re pinging or not? [Do a search](http://technorati.com/ “Search form.”) for your URL. If Technorati shows your blog title, you have pinged at least once.

Second, you want to be in the [Blog Finder Directory](http://technorati.com/blogs). There are [two ways to do this](http://technorati.com/help/blogfinder.html “Straight from the horse’s mouth, reproduced below.”).

1. [Sign up for an account](http://technorati.com/signup/ “It’s easy! Create a Technorati account.”) and once that is done, [claim your blog](http://technorati.com/account/blogs “It’s easy too! Tell Technorati which blogs are yours.”). You can then [configure your blog](http://technorati.com/account/blogs/edit/1 “Direct link to configuring your first claimed blog.”) to add tags and other juicy bits of information (optional). If you have a swiss blog, try adding the tag [helvetia](http://technorati.com/blogs/helvetia “See list of blogs tagged helvetia.”) to your blog. Surprises in store soon.

2. If you don’t want to bother with signing up with Technorati or claiming your blog, it’s easy: just add directory tags to your blog. Directory tags are [like tags](http://climbtothestars.org/archives/2006/03/01/comment-faire-des-tags/ “How to tag, in French.”), only you need to use the rel="tag directory" attribute on the link instead of just rel="tag". Example? Add the following code anywhere on your blog to be tagged as “helvetia”: <a href="http://technorati.com/blogs/helvetia" rel="tag directory">I'm a swiss blog!</a>. Adapt to any tag you wish to use. You can add upto 20 per blog.

[fr] J'ai un projet de répertoire de blogs suisses construit sur Technorati. Je cherche un développeur pour la partie PHP/MySQL/TechnoratiAPI et un designer/graphiste pour l'interface web. C'est un projet non lucratif mais qui peut rapporter visibilité et célébrité à  ceux qui y prendront part!

You might have heard that [blog.ch is for sale](http://blog.ch/blog/archives/2006/03/04/blogch-zu-verkaufen/ “Announcement, in German.”). As we all could suspect, Matt unfortunately and understandably doesn’t have time for [SwissBlogs](http://swissblogs.com/ “The oldest Swiss blog directory.”) and handed it back to me a few weeks ago.

I have plans for SwissBlogs, which involve a complete make-over and using “what’s out there” as much as possible. I think it’s silly to spend energy re-inventing the wheel. I won’t go into details here, but my idea involves building on all the data already available through Technorati. [I mentioned this idea on the bloggerbosse list](http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bloggerbosse/message/117) but got the feeling everybody was just interested in building something from the ground up.

I have the ideas, but not the time (and my limited skills would make the necessary time long) to implement it. I’m looking for a developer who could do the PHP, MySQL and Technorati API stuff, and a designer to take care of the web part. The directory I have in mind would be a public service, and would be **strictly non-profit**. I want people who are in the directory to not worry about their data being sold or distributed as part of a list for marketing purposes.

If you’re interested in participating, and have **time and energy** to spend on the project, drop me a line or leave a comment. Credit will be given, of course, which means fame awaits you if everything goes as planned.

Handover Swissblogs [fr]

Je passe aujourd’hui officiellement la direction de l’annuaire SwissBlogs à  Matthias Gutfeldt, un vieil ami qui s’occupe du fameux Blog.ch. Je reste cependant encore dans les parages avec un grand fouet 🙂

[en] As of today, Matthias Gutfeldt of Blog.ch fame is taking over operational management of the SwissBlogs directory. As I already experienced with Pompage.net, I'm not so good at keeping things running over time, once the initial launch phase has passed.

Matthias and I have been talking about making Blog.ch and SwissBlogs collaborate more efficiently and share information for some time now. He seemed the right person to ask, and to my pleasure, he accepted immediately. I'm happy to leave my "baby" between the hands of an old-time friend who has already found my official title: "Slave Whipper". (That's in addition to "Founder", which can't be really changed, can it?)

Depuis le temps, vous commencez à  le savoir: j’ai des idées, j’aime bien lancer des projets, mais j’ai un peu de peine à  suivre sur la durée. J’ai remis Pompage.net à  Samuel Latchman il y a environ six mois, et aujourd’hui, je remets à  Matthias Gutfeldt la direction opérationnelle de SwissBlogs.

Je connais Matthias depuis bien longtemps. Si mes souvenirs sont bons, cela remonte à  2001! Lorsqu’il a lancé Blog.ch, Matthias est parti de la liste (alors encore relativement modeste) de blogs dans la base de données de SwissBlogs. En quelque sorte, Blog.ch est un rejeton de SwissBlogs — j’espère que Matthias ne m’en voudra pas de voir les choses comme ça!

Il y a quelques mois, faisant le constat que la liste de blogs à  approuver pour le répertoire augmentait de jour en jour, et que toutes mes idées concernant le développement futur de SwissBlogs étaient restées à  l’état d’idées, j’ai lancé un appel afin de réunir une équipe pour faire tourner SwissBlogs. Un petit groupe de personnes intéressées s’est formé, nous avons ouvert une mailing-list, et peu de temps après, mon ordinateur est tombé en panne, me faisant faux bond pendant six semaines. Mauvais timing?

Toujours est-il qu’à  mon retour dans le monde des vivants branchés, j’ai dû constater que je n’étais clairement plus en mesure de tirer la machine. Me souvenant de l’heureux dénouement de l’aventure Pompage.net, j’ai décidé qu’il était temps pour moi de passer le flambeau — et Matthias me semblait pour cela la personne toute désignée, à  plus forte raison puisque nous parlions depuis assez longtemps d’intégrer plus fortement nos deux sites.

Je reste cependant dans le coin! Matthias m’a d’ores et déjà  trouvé mon nouveau titre: Slave Whipper (Fouetteuse d’esclave). Je me réjouis de voir SwissBlogs sortir de sa léthargie et collaborer plus étroitement avec Blog.ch!

SwissBlogs Needs Your Help [en]

SwissBlogs is putting together a team of motivated people to improve it drastically.

[fr] Je cherche à monter une équipe de personnes motivées pour faire vivre SwissBlogs, un des répertoires de blogs suisses les plus en vue. Au programme, entre autres:

  1. amélioration générale de l'interface (formulaire qui se pré-remplit avec les informations meta du weblog, possibilité d'éditer ses infos)
  2. intégration avec blog.ch
  3. version italienne
  4. processus de modération plus efficace

Si vous voulez faire partie de l'équipe, contactez-moi! Je cherche aussi des modérateurs, pour approuver les nouveaux sites ajoutés à la liste. Le site est en PHP/MySQL pas trop propre 🙂

SwissBlogs, one of the best-known Swiss blog directories, has become too much for one person (me) to maintain, even with a little help (Matt). Plus, you all know by now, that if I’m pretty good at having ideas and launching stuff, I’m much less good at keeping them going. I guess that’s just who I am.

I am therefore looking for motivated (and multilingual!) people to help me keep this directory going, and improve it (it has hardly changed since I quickly threw a few lines of dirty code together over 18 months ago).

I would like to put together a team of 5-6 people. Here is a quick list of what I’m thinking about for the coming developments of the directory:

  1. provide italian translation of interface
  2. allow people to edit their own data (add username/password functionality)
  3. automatically fill-in the form with as much data as possible pulled from the blog page meta tags (like ViaBloga does with their blogrolling system)
  4. more integration with blog.ch: it initially used the SwissBlogs list, but now the two lists have grown separately — people sign up on blog.ch but not on SwissBlogs, and vice-versa
  5. in particular, blog.ch information can be used to determine if a blog is still active or not
  6. add screenshots of blogs
  7. improve moderation process
  8. better sorting and filing of blogs (add tags?)
  9. improve general usability of form/site, and redesign…

Of course, we also need moderators — people who will check new blogs before inclusion in the directory.

Have I posted about this already? It rings familiar but my memory and site search are failing me.
