Alive and Well [en]

For those of you who are wondering what’s happening to me these days, I am actually spending less time online and more time in my books! It’s the holidays now and there are a couple of courseworks I want to get done before they end.

So I’m alive and well (although at the moment I have this nasty cold, but I’m taking care of it, thank you!) and studying. I’ve also had a spell or two of flat-cleaning madness – yep, my flat needed it badly…

Site Prehistory [en]

If you want a laugh, I’ve uploaded the first version of my site for you. Warning: it’s the Word “Save As HTML” one…

Light in the Kitchen [en]

Thanks Dad, I finally have light in my kitchen again!

I also did a lot of frantic shopping and organizing for my flat. I’m tired of camping.

I now have a real “living-room” and a few loose ends are being tied up.

It was about time!

Tomorrow will be my second last day at Orange.

The script is working, and everything I coded is up on a test server running nicely.

A big thanks to all of you who helped me with technical questions, and another big thanks to everybody (online or IRL) who put up with me during these four very heavy weeks!

Bad Girl [en]

I’m being bad. I’ve spent quite a few classes writing stuff down.
And it’s very hard to resist the temptation to type everything up and post it in one go.
But I’ll wait. I need sleep, don’t I?

Orange Work [en]

Work at Orange is exciting, but tiring. There is too much work for one person (coding something like 400 Powerpoint slides in HTML) so I have an assistant, and should get two more on Wednesday.
Only thing, they don’t know HTML yet, so I’ll have to teach them some basics before they can really help me.

More and more, I’m realising how much I have learnt about web designing and publishing. I also tend to forget how little the “common mortal” knows on the subject. Hanging out with the “web designers” community on the Net doesn’t help!

Back [en]

Here I am, finally – cat sprawled over my knees, dog curled up under the table, and computer humming on the table. Lots of cables, CD-ROMs and papers lying all over the place, and the modem is perched on my ironing table about two metres away, but it works: I’m online.

All the places I used to visit regularly two months ago have continued living a life of their own. Even the statistics of my little site tell me that people other than me actually do visit it.
I didn’t miss the web when I was “offline”. I did wonder every now and again about what was going on there, without me. But finally, when you’re not there, you’re not there – life goes on and cyberspace seems more and more distant.
