It's now unusual to see one though. One of the guys I used to ski with owned a pharmacy and mentioned with the insurance agreements the chains had set up, it was difficult to compete. My health insurance dictated to me that I had to go to a specific pharmacy to get my prescriptions filled when I needed such medication.</p> There are still a few privately owned pharmacies in the USA.
