&lt;p&gt;THe only thing is that I find you a litle bit optimistic in your opinion that "most people are multilingual". 
Even when taking away the US, which a huge community of monolingual people (but in different languages), "most" of the people are I think basically monolingual.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Because of our lives and interests, our friends and acquantainces are mostly multilingual, but how many times did I see a blank face when I asked someone if he spoke english ?&lt;/p&gt;</description>
