Something we're right in the middle of and an encouraging post to read. I'd be the manager yelling encouragement at a hopefully bottom-up driven adoption of a wiki. We've set up a complete free-for-all space on an outside wiki for people to learn on with no boundaries beyond the wisdom of Bill and Ted. The learning from this will hopefully enable us to completely replace our organisation's intranet with a wiki instead. In theory. Though (as my boss as noted) the things going feral quite quickly and (most interestingly) previously tech-resistant categories of colleague are getting right in there. Must blog in more detail about this at some point.

Hi Stephanie - thanks for these invaluable notes. And thanks, too, to Suw for her thoughts on this very relevant topic. I've found that with a number of clients and also other business people I've been working/ speaking with the misconception of a blog being a personal diary has been a huge stumbling block for them. I blogged about it earlier this week - see http://www.zenguide.co.uk/2007/06/a-blog-by-any.... Helping them view it as a Resource Centre or Discussion Space has been really useful in shifting that mindset so that they can take advantage of a tool that could really help their businesses.
