I’m thinking of getting a dedicated server.
It’s not that I’m unhappy with my kind host, but I’m reaching a point where I would like more control on the server, and where I want to be able to offer an easy solution to friends of mine who are “getting online”.
Thoughts? Got a better deal, anyone?

I’ve heard raves about Pair Networks (pair.com) WRT your needs as you’ve defined them, without the need to put aside an entire box.
If their hosting options aren’t so hot in your opinion, you might drop a line to Makiko Itoh and learn more about the solution her and her husband employ. I know it’s an outfit out of New York, but not much more.

j’ai un superplan chez OVH, j’en suis plutot content. Pour le tarif, on ne peut pas esperer quelque chose d’exceptionnel en termes de performances, mais c’est suffisant pour mes activités.
Attention cependant à faire des sauvegardes régulièrement : il y a pas mal de crashs disques sur ces modèles s’ils sont un peu chargés (je n’ai pas encore eu de problèmes à ce niveau).
Chez http://www.nexlink.net/ ils ont une offre dédiée à 79 / mois et des offres mutualisées avec 1024 Mo. Et ils ont suisses
http://lost-oasis.fr/ je ne connais pas leur nouvelles offres, ils proposaient avant des open-brick, sinon ce sont des ex-tufamiliens

I use their Code Monster plan, (often discounted at $20 instead of $40, like it is today). The feature list is really impressive. See http://dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.html

Full access, GD et Image-Magick, install des mod perls à la demande, support gentil et efficace. Espace à la demande, bases MySql idem. Prix imbattable.
Suis pas affilié, ai juste passé des mois pour les trouver, ai testé, suis pleinement satisfait.
